You can look at this photo literally and see what I saw: a majestic cottonwood tree ready to leaf out, a country road disappearing over a distant hill, an incipient sunrise backlighting a small herd of cows and their newborn calves (barely visible on the horizon) and an amazing show of clouds. Or you could see everything I’ve just described as symbols of something more than what they are.
The meaning of those symbols, of course, is up to you — that’s where you come into the picture.
