When you see or hear the word “Transylvania,” I suspect you think of roving vampires and other creatures of the night. You might even think of Dracula.
I hate to disappoint you but we have been in Transylvania in Romania now for close to 24 hours and even though we visited Bran Castle, the alleged “home” of Dracula, we have yet to see anything that seems the least bit supernatural. But we have seen amazing things and places.
It is Fall here in central Romania and the hills are alive with color. I’m happy for that because being gone from South Dakota for the month of October means that I have missed much of that.
I didn’t get to fly my drone much yesterday because we had a lot of ground to cover. But what I saw when I was able to get above eye level was striking.
Below you will find a collection of photos from our trip yesterday. The first 3 are scenes from central Romania, including a town and its Orthodox cemetery. The next 5 are of Bran Castle, including a display of skulls for the upcoming Bran Castle Halloween party being moved up a steep flight of stairs. And the last two are of scenes from the city of Sibiu, where we are now. And the last one, in black and white, is of wife Deb and daughter-in-law Lynn walking home after our dinner in a subterranean restaurant.
