04-20-17 "Let Me Tell You About The . . . "
By Scott Shephard
Let me tell ya 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
And the moon up above
And a thing called "love"
But I'm not going talk about love and sex in this post today. Sorry if I got your hopes up. This bee knows nothing about "the birds and the bees" anyway. At best, he/she is only participating in what I would call an "unintentional reproductive act." (Wasn't it Tina Turner who sang "What's love got to do with it?") Whatever the bee was doing here was at the very least photogenic.
Love, sex and unintentional reproductive acts aside, I would like to tell you that good photography requires patience, practice, skill and good timing. Or, in the case of this photo, taken at the Denver Botanic Gardens, just plain dumb luck. I was trying to get a picture of the hyacinth when this bee flew into the frame, posed for a fraction of a second and then moved on. It's good to get lucky, isn't it?
