20.06.27 Platte Creek - Missouri River

This photo was taken a couple days ago just minutes before the sun came up. It was a bit windy, especially at 300 feet but I knew my drone could handle it.

For those who have never explored the Missouri River, you may wonder why a creek could look so much like a small lake. The reason is that when the Missouri River dams were built and filled with 150 feet of water or more, the creek beds backfilled. Thus, if you go far enough into creeks like, you will find the “real” creek.

Though I traded my sailboat for a camper a couple years ago, I still look at places like this as safe harbors from wind and storms.
